«NEW AGE PHILANTHROPY: SCENARIOS FOR THE FUTURE»

     Since the beginning of the 1990th philanthropy in Russia has evolved significantly. During last years we could see a sharp increase in the activity of Russian and foreign donors, business and individuals. Also, a lot of NGOs and community foundations appeared along with publications in mass-media, multiple charity concerts and events, researches and books that rose quickly.

     But the world around philanthropy is changing, so philanthropy is too. Many forces and factors around philanthropy, including negative economic situation, social tension, high expectations from people and government, now affect this world. At the same time they call on the sector and its members in new ways, they generate new opportunities and challenges that will require response.

     What kind of strategy will donors and NGOs employ to address future long-term implications of current trends in business and society? How should all the members of philanthropy sector consolidate their efforts and rethink assumptions to create available and common possibilities? How could they get governmental support and, most important, social confidence?

     These and many other important issues are to be addressed at the Donors Forum annual conference. The opening session focuses on two scenarios for future philanthropy development. The main task is to concentrate our efforts on ability to foresee what might happen in crisis time after that and how to focus on right long-terms issues and commonly mobilize recourses.

     We will involve in the discussions economists, public persons, politicians, donors and etc. to present their view on future philanthropy and unite them with common mission: 

    “Make better decisions today (with help of those who know how it is evolving and works) in support of the issues and people tomorrow”.
