What is the the TOP Corporate Philanthropist AWARD?

TOP Corporate Philanthropist – Giving List 2007 ranks companies according to the quantitative data, donations allocated by the company for the support of the public benefit purposes and philanthropic projects on annual basis. In the United Kingdom, the Guardian, a reputable economic edition is publishing the Top 100 Giving List each year since 2001; in the USA, Forbes magazine is announcing the Top 10 of Giving Companies on an annual basis. In CEE the Award was first announced in 2003 in the Czech Republic by the Czech Donors Forum. In 2007 is the TOP awarded in 8 countries in the Central and Eastern Europe as a part of the CEENERGI project.

Every company that supports public benefit purposes might participate in the list TOP Corporate Philanthropist in the CEENERGI countries (Bulgaria, Czech Rep., Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Russia, and Ukraine). TOP Award is based on the joint methodology for all CEENERGI countries (based on the Czech Donors Forum award critieria). In the Czech Republic and Slovakia companies can submit the data based on the LBG (London Benchmarking Group).

Ranking is done in two categories that are common for all the countries:

-  Absolute amount of donations

-  Most generous company – based on the amount of donation as a percentage of pre-tax profit. 

Alternatively TOP Awards are announced for the TOP regional donors, SMEs, in-kind donor, sectors etc.

TOP Corporate Philanthropist is the only giving list in CEE countries that monitors the corporate donors by the given amount and its main objectives are:

·          to promote responsible and transparent corporate philanthropy through introducing data on corporate giving as a standard part of business economic information,

·          to relate companies, working in Central and Eastern Europe, Western Europe and the US, based on their philanthropic activities,

·          to provide reliable benchmarking in corporate philanthropic efforts.

TOP Corporate Philanthropist – Giving List 2007 will be announced in individual countries in Autumn 2007 and the regional comparison will be available in October 2007.
